No God But God
Acts 14:8-18
April 6, 1997
I. A Twisted Look
The multitudes look for a god:
1. That makes them feel better
2. That is like them (not transcendent)
3. That they can explain
4. That fits their superstitions
5. That does not call them into account for their sin and disobedience
II. An Unchanging Truth
But, there is no God but God (by virtue of...):
1. Creation v. 15
2. Sovereignty v. 16 (permitted - there is man's free will)
3. Mercy v. 17 (common grace)
III. A Daunting Task
Unfortunately, darkened hearts won't believe (v. 18). Yet, we must...
1. Admit our own sinfulness v. 15
2. Preach the gospel v. 15
3. Appeal to sinners to repent v. 15
4. Own no personal glory v. 14, 18
