A Calming Promise

Acts 18:1-11

September 28, 1997

 

 

I. Paul's Labor

 

   1. Labored both physically and spiritually (vv. 1-4)

 

   2. Labored with the resistance of the Jews (vv. 5-6)

 

   3. Labored with the consciousness of opposition and the threat of harm v. 6, 10

 

 

II. The Gospel's Work

 

   1. Holy Spirit preparation (v. 7)

 

   2. Faith in the Lord (v. 8)

 

   3. Profession in baptism (v. 8) (I Corinthians 1:14)

 

 

III. The Lord's Assurance

 

   1. A two-fold command (v. 9)

 

       a. Do not fear

 

       b. Go on speaking

 

   2. A precious promise (v. 10)

 

       a. The Lord's presence

 

       b. The Lord's protection

 

       c. The Lord's predetermination

 

This promise sustained the early missionaries.
